In Life Studies, all Year 9 and Year 10 students are educated on a broad range of important topics which concern their daily lives. Life Studies forms part of our Religious Education and Citizenship curriculum in Yr9 and Yr10 and gives our young people the chance to increase their cultural capital by learning about current affairs, British Values, different religions and exploring big issues & controversial issues. Life Studies also gives them a structured pathway towards personal development and strong opportunities for social, moral, spiritual and cultural development (SMSC). Many controversial topics are discussed in Life Studies and students are taught valuable knowledge which allows them to participate in many of the key debates in politics and ethics, whilst also giving them a broad knowledge of various religious views on these topics and the opportunity to shape their own opinions. In Life Studies, skills of communication, team-work, self-belief, problem solving and self-management are also developed.
