ACS are committed to providing the very best opportunities and support for all learners. At KS3 our pupils complete a combination of formative and summative assessments in order for staff and pupils to remove potential barriers to learning, and ensure rapid and sustainable progress that will transfer to those vital skills assessed at KS4 and KS5.
The grades our learners achieve at KS4 and KS5 are an essential step in that journey to success, whether that be at our Sixth Form, University or future career paths. It is therefore important that students and their parents are fully informed about all aspects of the examination process, and within this section of our website we aim to provide the key information which we hope will be useful and informative. Our ACS Exams Policy provides details of everything related to examinations, including: exam fees, access arrangements, appeals, malpractice, contingency planning and results services.
Students and parents interested in our BTEC programmes will find our BTEC Handbook beneficial; for subject specific guidance about what to expect within our BTEC subjects, contact us at our Sixth Form and we will be more than happy to provide additional information. Our ECDL handbook provides key information about how these specific courses are delivered, with further details about how assessment is conducted, appeals and malpractice.
Already have credit for BTECs or similar courses? Completion of our Recognition of Prior Learning form will enable us to assist in transferring those credits to allow you to complete the course.
Our core aim is to support our learners in their academic journey to success. During the internal/external examination period, students and parents will be provided with crucial information for that academic year, including the examination timetable (which is also available via our website prior to external examinations) and essential guidance from JCQ, such as information for candidates on:
